    Mrs Tina Davies has retired from her role as Chair of Governors at Alaw Primary School after many years of dedicated and passionate service to the school. Throughout her time on our Governing Body, Mrs Davies has made countless vital contributions in her position as Chair.

     

    We wish Mrs Davies all the best and thank her for her enormous contribution to the success of Alaw Primary School.

    Mother’s Day Tea postponed until the 14th March 2018 due to adverse weather conditions and burst water pipes which caused significant damage to the junior department. 

    Thank you to the Parents Association for their flexibility and reorganisation of this very special event.

    Please note: sitting times remain the same and only the date has changed.

    Unfortunately the school will remain closed on Monday 5th due to hazardous school site conditions and flooding in the junior department. 

  • School Closure 1st and 2nd March 2018

    You will be aware that severe weather is forecast by the Met Office for Rhondda Cynon Taf, starting early tomorrow morning (Thursday 1 March) and continuing into Friday 2 March.

     

    In response to this advice and following appropriate risk assessments, it has been decided that home to school transport will be suspended on Thursday 1 March and Friday, 2 March. In consultation with our Chair of Governors, we have decided to close our school on Thursday and Friday. This decision is:

    "Based on current Met Office forecasts of severe winter weather, which is expected to have a significant impact from tomorrow, Thursday 1 March and in to the weekend, the local authority has advised us to close the school tomorrow, Thursday 1 March and Friday 2 March. An update will be provided over the weekend in respect of Monday, 5 March."

    The council is closely monitoring the latest weather forecast and, based on the local and national updates, is preparing for a period of significant snowfall.

     

    In order to give parents and carers as much notice as possible of the predicted disruption please read the following communication below.

     

    "The council is closely monitoring the latest weather forecast and, based on the local and national updates, is preparing for a period of significant snowfall which is expected to impact on schools and Home to School Transport.

     

    "A further update will be issued in due course which will take into account forecast updates but, based on the latest information, it is...

     

    Likely that schools may need to close early on Thursday 1st March

     

    Highly likely that schools may need to be closed on Friday 2nd March

     

    Likely schools may need to be closed on Monday 5th March.

     

    "This information is being provided to advise parents and carers of the potential impact of the predicted snowfall at the earliest opportunity.
