  • Health Protection Guidance - Important update

    Please see the new Health protection in children and young people’s settings including education which replaces the former All Wales Infection Prevention and Control for Education Settings Guidance. This guidance can be found on the new All Wales Acute Response Service (AWARe) / Health protection team page on the Public Health Wales (PHW) website.   • Free practical tips and expert advice for all your parenting challenges

    Have you discovered the fantastic Welsh Government resource of ‘Parenting, Give it Time’? This online resource is filled with free practical tips and expert advice for  parents and carers.

     

    The informative platform offers support categorised into 4 age categories ranging from 0 to 13+ years old. It covers a range of topics including; structure and routines, encouraging positive behaviour, praise, grief and bereavement, social media, bullying, life skills amongst many more.

  • Reading Well

    Reading Well supports you to understand and manage your health and wellbeing using helpful reading.

    Reading Well books are all recommended by health experts, as well as people with lived experience of the conditions and topics covered and their relatives and carers.

     

     

    The Reading Well programme, run by the Reading Agency and funded by Welsh Government, is delivered through Welsh and English public libraries to help children, young people and their families understand and manage their health and well-being using recommended reading.

     

    Reading Well books are recommended by health experts and people living with the conditions covered.

     

    There are 4 bilingual book lists, covering a number of themes including grief, anxiety, bullying, bodyimage, social anxiety and many more.

     

    The booklist also explores living well with conditions including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), dyslexia andphysical disabilities.

    Artcile of the week
    In addition to rights that belong to children, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child also talks about rights for parents and carers. These include Article 5 (parental guidance) and Article 18 (parental responsibilities and state assistance).

    Article 5 says that governments must respect the rights and responsibilities of parents and carers to provide guidance and direction to their child as they grow up. Article 18 states that parents share responsibility for bringing up their child and should always consider what is best for the child. It also talks about government support for children and parents.

  • Ukraine - support materials

    Please find below details of a written statement on the war in Ukraine from Welsh Government.  The deeply concerning media reports of the war in Ukraine is extremely shocking to us all, and  the trauma experienced by the families exposed to this violence is unimaginable.   Please see below links/resoures that the Educational Psychology Service has pulled together to support vulnerable children and young people who might be experiencing significant anxiety as a result of current media reports. These are attached.
